Virender Sehwag shares post to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the 2011 World Cup victory - the time of his life

Former Indian batsman Virender Sehwag on Friday shared a post on social media to celebrate the 10th anniversary of India’s win at the 2011 World Cup and said it was “the time of his life.”

Friday April 2, 2021, was the 10th anniversary of India’s triumph in the 2011 World Cup and former Indian batsman Virender Sehwag reflected on the iconic day and said it is ‘the time of his life’.

Ten years ago, on this very day, India beat Sri Lanka in the World Cup final at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai by 6 wickets and won the country’s second title after a span of 28 years.

Sehwag, who started batting for India with Sachin Tendulkar, was a crucial part of the team that went on to choose India’s second World Cup title.

In the first match of the World Cup, where India faced Bangladesh in Dhaka, Sehwag hit opposing bowlers across the park while scoring a 175 of 140 balls as India racked up 370 runs and made his intentions in the tournament. Sure. They won the game by 87 runs and were the favorites from the start to lift the title.

Sehwag’s 175-run knockout was also the highest individual score in the tournament by any player.

However, on the day of the final against Sri Lanka, the team posted a total of 275 to chase a brilliant century from Mahela Jayawardene.
